My aunty once said, when I was going through a difficult period: a man is like a mountain. A very dear friend of mine, when she took a picture of me, seeing me all woken up, alive, said: un volcan s'éteint, un être s'éveille.
As we go through time, space, circumstances, we change, we become alive, we go dormant, we erode, we loose pieces of ourselves, our emotional tectonic plates move and shift, we grow, we sink, we erupt. The Landscape is personal. The Wanderer is my travel companion and shares absorbing all of my surrounds, the otherworldly landscapes, my highs and lows, my personal geology. And through this shared experience, an intimate bond forms; a bond that fondly reminds me of a most dear Chicago mate of mine, who is my connection with the Wanderer, our shared mate. We travel together.
Taking Ai Weiwei's study approach, yes, my personal is political. I can cross borders to unravel my personal geology, make consequential connections around the planet. Alas, it is not the case for many.
Fuck you!
