This is how I personally relate to this Wanderer:
...well-known as the Button from Galichnik. This is the name of a village high in the mountains in Western Macedonia that was considered one of the most wealthy ones in the region. The people from Galichnik were known as well educated (rare at that time), extremely skilled woodcarvers and great traders... all in addition to their primary work which was sheep farming. They were also known as great keepers of their local tradition (probably due to the isolation of the village itself), which in some form is still alive today ( more about the wedding tradition )
These used to belong to my grandmother... most likely her mother really did wear these as buttons on her wedding clothes. My grandmother was born in Skopje and this tradition in the family stopped with her moving to the 'big' city.

I love these buttons... And yet I have never worn them as jewerly.
Instead I keep them in this wooden carved box along with other important documents, notes, souvenirs...
Most probably these buttons were the biggest reason why I got so attracted to filigree jewerly in the first place.
